Who We Are |
My name is Lynette Munson, founder of Small Talk ESL. I believe communication is the key element of understanding and relating to one another. It can make the difference between peace and chaos. I believe that there are many forms of communication, but Love is the only language because no matter what words I use or whose ears hear them, Love is the thing that motivates understanding.
It is in the balance of love and understanding that I will tutor your English speaking ability. We will talk on the phone, email, Skype, or Google, and you will explore your everyday life in English. There will be short exams that help you determine how and when to use your growing English vocabulary. And in simple terms, where your English speaking skills are short, I will help you to strengthen them. I ask that you please regard me as a friend. I am patient, kind and knowledgeable. And because I only want the best for you, that is what I will offer you. Send me an email or set up an appointment as soon as you are ready to begin. I can't wait to meet you! |
Our History |
I began tutoring students in college on how to use the internet (that gives you some idea of how old I am). But I noticed that so many of the issues these diverse students encountered had less to do with internet issues and more to do with technical terminology. This is when it first occurred to me how many small problems could be resolved through basic communication filters. As I began to focus more on my Creative Writing major, I also encountered many English Literature students who needed help communicating their ideas in simpler language, and whenever that student was not a native English speaker, I would make mental notes on some of the issues specific to them. Sometimes it was consistency of past, present, and future tense. Sometimes it was with using adjectives/adverbs, but it was always easy for those students to come to me for help. I am still just that easy to come to for help. At SmalltalkESL we are patient, compassionate, and insightful. Communication happens on many levels, and we are open to all of them.
